Economists help organizations understand trends, evaluate policies, forecast outcomes and make informed decisions. Economics graduates work across business, government, nonprofits and research organizations because the skills they develop apply in almost every sector.
Our students have pursued internships and opportunities with organizations including the Michigan Citizens Research Council, government agencies and research-focused organizations. Others continue into graduate and doctoral programs, using economics as a foundation for graduate study in areas like law, policy, analytics and research.
Because the economics department is smaller, you’ll have more opportunities to build relationships with faculty and classmates, which creates space for discussion, mentorship and individualized support.
