Program expectations and requirements
Who can join?
The Business Residential College is designed for incoming students planning to major in one of CMU’s business programs. A commitment to academic excellence is expected, and a minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
What will I participate in?
As a BRC member, you’ll participate in:
- BUS 109: Collegiate Success for Business Students. BRC students enroll in BUS 109 instead of BUS 102 on the BSBA Degree.
- Leadership Safari before the start of the academic year.
- BRC orientation activities.
- Experiential learning and community service opportunities.
- Leadership and professional development events.
What is BUS 109?
BUS 109 is a one-credit course offered exclusively to BRC students. The course helps students build professional and academic skills through activities such as:
- Resume workshops.
- LinkedIn labs.
- Professional dress seminars.
- Career and leadership development activities.
How do I apply?
Students must complete their housing application before applying to the Business Residential College.

Herrig Hall gives Business Residential College students spaces to connect, collaborate and build community beyond the classroom.
Some of the most important parts of college happen in the spaces between classes: late-night conversations, shared meals, group projects and the routines that help students feel at home.
