There are some scholarships that are based on financial needs. To be eligible for these awards you must file your free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beginning October 1.

Learn More

Some of the CBA scholarships are renewable for your entire CMU experience. To renew your scholarship you must submit a new application each year.

Please note that if you are awarded a scholarship, there is no guarantee that you will receive that scholarship the following year.

Renewability Exceptions:

Some scholarships have renewability limits, requirements and expectations. Check your scholarship application form for:

-Limits to the number of years or semesters that the scholarship can be renewed
-Requirements and expectations
-Specific majors*

*If you change your major, you may be ineligible for your previously awarded scholarship.

This is your opportunity to tell your story. Here are a few ideas for you to elaborate on why you are deserving of a scholarship:

Reflect on who you are:
-Where did you come from?
-What values do you hold?
-How will this scholarship help you reach your goals?

Share a bit about your hometown and your family background:
-Do you come from a large family?
-Do you have other siblings that are in school too?
-Are you from a single-parent household?

Elaborate about what kind of a student you are:
-Do you have a job? How many hours do you work?
-Are you a parent or a nontraditional student? How does that impact you?

Include details of who you have become at CMU:
-How have you developed throughout your college career?

Write about your volunteerism:
-How do you give back to the community?
-Why do you choose to do what you do?

Describe your plans after graduation:
-What is your plan after graduation?
-What is the career path you envision for yourself?
