    Yellow Belt introduces foundational Lean Six Sigma concepts and problem-solving tools. Green Belt builds on those foundations with deeper analytical and project management skills designed for leading improvement initiatives.

    You can begin with Yellow Belt before advancing to Green belt or you may qualify to pursue Green Belt directly.

    They are open to both students, staff, faculty and anyone interested in becoming certified.

    Some certification pathways include prerequisite coursework or academic recommendations depending on the certification level and whether you are completing the workshop or course option.

    Yellow Belt is designed as an introduction to Lean Six Sigma and is a strong starting point for many students and professionals.

    Green Belt participants should have a stronger background in statistics and business coursework. Completion of a business statistics course is required for some pathways, and additional coursework may be recommended depending on your academic background.

    Workshop sessions are typically offered after the fall semester and multiple times following the spring semester. Specific workshop dates, formats and registration details are available on the Yellow Belt and Green Belt workshop pages.

    Green Belt workshop fee: $350

    Yellow Belt workshop fee: $200

    Both certifications also require a textbook, which is available separately through the CMU Bookstore

    Refunds are available before the workshop begins. Refunds are not available after the first day of the workshop.
