Audiology Application Requirements
Application checklist for Doctor of Audiology
The deadline for application to the program is January 15, 2024. Any application that is incomplete or received after that date will not be considered. The Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) launch date for the 2023-2024 application cycle is July 15, 2023.

- Pay $50 supplemental fee
- Three letters of recommendation (two must come from Communication Sciences and Disorders faculty)
CSDCAS application
All applicants must apply using CSDCAS, an online application service. Do not apply to CMU's Office of Graduate Studies. The CSDCAS student portal will launch on July 15, 2023 for the 2023-2024 application cycle. If you start the process prior to the launch date, your information will be deleted. Please reference the CSDCAS Program Directory to access each school's requirements. It will help ensure your application is complete and all application, admissions, and program requirements have been met. It will also assist in having your application processed in a timely manner.
Application deadline
The application deadline for our fall Audiology Program is January 15th. The Audiology Program does not offer spring admissions.
Prerequisite coursework
You are expected to complete the following classes before enrolling in the Audiology Program:
- CSD 230: Introduction to Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders
- CSD 278: Descriptive Phonetics
- CSD 330: Language Development
- CSD 331: Introduction to Audiology
- CSD 335: Anatomy and Physiology of Speech and Hearing
- CSD 431: Audiologic Rehabilitation
- CSD 463: Introduction to Acoustic Phonetics

Supplemental fee
You must submit the $50 supplemental fee. Log onto our payment portal to pay your supplemental fee.
Letters of recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required. Of the three required, two must come from Communication Sciences and Disorders faculty with one being an instructor you had for class.
For international students only
International students must complete the following requirements. Contact our CHP Graduate Admissions Office with any questions or concerns via email: chpgradadm@cmich.edu or phone: 989-774-1730.
- Course-by-course evaluation by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE), World Education Services (WES), Josef Silney and Associates, Inc., or Spantran
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores
- I-20 requirements
Course-by-course evaluation
Coursework taken at international institutions (from non-English speaking countries) must be evaluated by ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.), WES (World Education Services), Josef Silney and Associates, Inc., or Spantran. Official transcripts and an official course-by-course evaluation must be sent from the evaluation service directly to CSDCAS and to The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, CHP Admissions Office, HPB 1250G, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48859. Canadian students are exempt from this requirement.
TOEFL scores
Prospective students who are not citizens of a TOEFL-exempt country must submit a satisfactory test score on the TOEFL or IELTS. Score requirements: 79 or 6.5 on the TOEFL/IELTS for regular admission, 61-78 or 5.5-6.0 for conditional admission. For more information on TOEFL requirements, please reference the Graduate Bulletin.

Applicants who are offered/accepted into the Audiology Program must submit to CMU's Office of Graduate Studies an I-20 Affidavit/Statement of Support form, along with evidence of financial support.
