Vision

The vision of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions is to be nationally recognized for the development of professionals who contribute to an inclusive, healthy society.

Through The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, we foster and sustain a culture of excellence through collaborative clinical/professional practice, learner-centered education, leadership, research, and service.

Building and Location

The Health Professions Building provides our students and faculty members access to the latest technologies for teaching, learning, research and clinical practice in a beautiful and open environment. Our facility opened in 2004 and is home to The Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, as well as a number of clinical and research programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

Saturday and Sunday the building will remain locked. Arrangements can be made to open the building for Saturday and Sunday classes/labs held in the building. For more information, please contact Carrie Appold, Building Manager; 989-774-2872.

Carls Center Hours:

Audiology
Appointments Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Physical Therapy
Hands for Health PT, a student-supervised clinic for residents without health insurance or who are underinsured, operates once a week on Monday evenings starting at 4 p.m.

Fall and Balance Clinic for vestibular, neurological, and physical rehabilitation
Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Orthopedic Clinic for musculoskeletal and pre-/post-surgical rehabilitation
Tuesday and Thursday afternoons starting at 12 noon.

    • Continue North on S. Mission St. for 3.1 miles
    • Turn left onto E. Preston St.
    • Take first right onto E. Campus Dr.

    • Continue South on S. Mission St. for 2.6 miles

    Parking Information:

    If you are visiting and contact the Admissions office you'll receive a parking pass in the mail prior to your visit.  If you have not received a parking pass, you will need to contact the CMU Police Department in order to register your vehicle and obtain a parking pass on the day of your visit.  

    • Parking permit requirements are in effect Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the calendar year unless otherwise posted.
    • CMU parking meters require money to be deposited Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except for university-recognized holidays.
    • Parking is prohibited in all CMU parking lots between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., seven days a week except for resident lots. University parking permits must be displayed by 7:00 a.m. on the first day of regular classes for each semester or summer session. Non-resident lots include all faculty/staff lots, commuter lots, metered lots, and visitor lots unless an overnight visitor permit has been issued for that location.
    • Visitor permits may be obtained for guests at any time at the CMU Police Department.
