Building and location

The Health Professions Building provides our students and faculty members access to the latest technologies for teaching, learning, research and clinical practice in a beautiful and open environment. Our facility opened in 2004 and is home to The Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, as well as a number of clinical and research programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

Saturday and Sunday the building will remain locked. Arrangements can be made to open the building for Saturday and Sunday classes/labs held in the building. For more information, please contact Carrie Appold, Building Manager; 989-774-2724.

Carls Center hours

  • Audiology
    • Appointments Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Physical Therapy
    • Hands for Health PT, a student-supervised clinic for residents without health insurance or who are underinsured, operates once a week on Monday evenings starting at 4 p.m.
  • Fall and Balance Clinic for vestibular, neurological, and physical rehabilitation
    • Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Orthopedic Clinic for musculoskeletal and pre-/post-surgical rehabilitation
    • Tuesday and Thursday afternoons starting at 12 noon.

    • Take exit 139 on the left to merge onto US-127 BUS toward Mt. Pleasant.
    • Continue North on S. Mission St. for 3.1 miles.
    • Turn left onto E. Preston St.
    • Take first right onto E. Campus Dr.
    • Take first left into parking lot #12.

    • Take exit 144 and merge onto US-127 BUS.
    • Continue South on S. Mission St. for 2.6 miles.
    • Turn right onto E. Preston St.
    • Take first right onto E. Campus Dr.
    • Take first left into parking lot #12.

    • Turn left onto S. Mission St. for 1.5 miles.
    • Turn right onto E. Preston St.
    • Take first right onto E. Campus Dr.

    Parking information

    Parking permits are required to park on CMU’s campus year-round. All parking lots on CMU’s campus are designated for specific permits which are posted at each lot entrance. For additional parking information, including enforcement times, permit costs, meters, and mobile pay, please visit Parking Services.

    If you are visiting campus and contact the Admissions office, you'll receive a parking pass in the mail prior to your visit.  If you have not received a parking pass, you will need to contact the Parking Services in order to register your vehicle and obtain a parking pass on the day of your visit.
