About the School of Music
Music offerings at CMU
The School of Music provides offerings in four basic areas: curricular programs for students who aspire to careers in music; activities for all students who have an interest in music (most of the musical organizations in the School of Music are open to
all students on campus, whether music majors or not); courses for students with a general interest in music; and cultural offerings in the form of recitals, concerts, and lectures, most of which are free of charge.
Students at Central Michigan University benefit from an institution with a solid academic reputation, state-of-the-art facilities, and a friendly atmosphere. The university's wealth of resources and its size offer the academic advantages of a larger university with the personal attention provided by a smaller private school.
School of Music alumni have found that the skills, knowledge, and experiences acquired at CMU have prepared them for rewarding careers in music. Graduates of the School of Music hold important posts in K-12 and college music education across the nation, perform in orchestras, opera companies, bands, choirs, and as soloists around the world, and work in music publishing, arts management, and other music-related businesses and organizations.
The School of Music Building is located on the east edge of the campus. Surface parking is located adjacent to the building in Lot 33.
