Central Bound for students
Welcome to Central Bound
Central Bound is your opportunity to stay close, go far, and earn your bachelor’s degree with confidence. This innovative partnership between Central Michigan University and our community college partners across Michigan is designed with you in mind—whether you're just starting out or returning to school to finish what you started.
With dual admission and co-enrollment, you’ll be part of both your community college and CMU at the same time. That means:
- A flexible, affordable path to your degree
- Access to CMU resources and support from day one
- A seamless transfer experience when you're ready to take the next step
Whether you're balancing work, family, or just looking for a smart way to earn your degree, Central Bound helps you stay on track and graduate with a degree that opens doors.
What are the enrollment options?
Once you’re admitted to Central Michigan University, Central Bound most students have the option to:
- Take classes at the community college partner school while having active student status at CMU. This status is allowed for up to seven semesters before you have to take a CMU course.
- Take classes at CMU and only take classes at the partner community college should you need to.
- "Co-enroll” and take classes at both institutions during any given term (be sure to check financial aid implications).
Who can participate in Central Bound?
The following student classifications can participate in the program:
- Current CMU students
- Students transferring from a partner community college to CMU
- Prospective students applying to earn a bachelor’s degree at CMU or a degree from their partner community college
