Central Bound
About Central Bound
Central Bound is a formalized partnership between CMU and community colleges in Michigan. The program allows for dual admission and co-enrollment at both institutions. This means you can receive the benefits of being a CMU student while attending community college.
Partner schools
Lansing Community College. LCC students will be able to participate in Central Bound beginning Fall 2026. Classes are available online or in person at the Mount Pleasant campus.

Enrolling for fall 2026
Central Bound offers a flexible pathway for those who want to stay close to home while starting their Central Michigan University degree right away. Participants can work toward an associate degree at a partnering community college while also taking CMU courses—online or on campus—from their very first semester. With active student status, they gain access to CMU resources, expert advising, and affordable options to help them reach their goals.
- Flexible course options – Students can build schedules that combine classes at their community college, on-site at CMU, or online through CMU Online.
- Streamlined application process - One application. No fee.
- Scholarship opportunities – Eligibility for scholarships from both CMU and the partner institution, including CMU departmental awards before fully transitioning.
- Coordinated financial aid – Enrollment at both institutions in the same semester can be counted toward financial aid eligibility.
- Library access – Borrow materials and use CMU’s subscribed databases.
- Early advising – Guidance from a CMU academic advisor to help map a path to graduation.
- Seamless credit transfer – Partner colleges send transcripts to CMU each semester to ensure clear tracking of transferred credit.
- Locked-in degree requirements – Once admitted, degree requirements remain consistent through graduation.
- Up to seven semesters of flexibility – Participants have just over two years to take their first CMU class, with the option to co-enroll, focus solely on CMU, or take only community college classes.
