Celebrating 50 years of excellence in dietetics education at CMU

      by Kathleen Hodgkins

On October 24, 2024, Central Michigan University proudly marked the 50th Anniversary of its accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). This milestone underscores the program’s enduring commitment to excellence in nutrition education, as recognized by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

For five decades, the DPD has been instrumental in shaping the careers of registered dietitian nutritionists in Michigan and beyond. Graduates have made substantial contributions to dietetics and public health, impacting communities and advancing nutritional science.

The anniversary event, hosted at the Allen Foundation, Inc. Culinary Nutrition Center, united faculty, alumni, and supporters to celebrate the program’s rich legacy and future. As we honor the dedication of those who have driven the DPD’s success, we look forward to furthering our mission to promote health and well-being through innovative nutrition education.
