CMU Represented in the Atlanta Opera

      by Matheus Souza

Soon after graduating with a bachelor's degree in music, Carlos Clark made his mark by winning an audition with The Atlanta Opera as principal bassoon. Carlos will work alongside some of the world's finest musicians to help celebrate and elevate the artform of opera.

The Atlanta Opera performs and rehearses at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. This venue is a $145 million facility, with a theater that seats 2,750 people. The John A. Williams Theatre was designed to accommodate both acoustic and amplified performances with the specific intent of attracting Broadway Shows. In addition to the theatre, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre also has a 10,000 sq ft Ballroom available for event rental.

The Atlanta Opera celebrated its 40-year anniversary during the 2019/2020 season. The current Music Director and conductor is Arthur Fagen, Professor of Music (Orchestral Conducting) at Indiana University. The Atlanta Opera hired internationally recognized stage director, Tomer Zvulun, to be its General and Artistic director. The Atlanta Opera has garnered national attention and resulted in a Harvard Business School case study, an International Opera Awards nomination and an ArtsATL Luminary Award.
