Region 5’S Michigan Inclusive Training Technology Equity Network
Central Michigan University’s Rural Health Equity Institute has been awarded $854,304 to serve as the Region 5 hub for Michigan's Inclusive Training, Technology and Equity Network (MITTEN). This initiative is led by the Michigan High-Speed Internet Office (MIHI) and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Digital Equity Act. The initiative advances the Michigan Digital Equity Plan and promotes digital inclusion statewide through regional coordination, digital training, and support for underserved communities.
Region 5 overview
CMU’s Rural Health Equity Institute serves as the central hub for the East Central Michigan Prosperity Region 5, which includes eight counties: Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland and Saginaw.
If you are outside of Region 5 and need to find who is serving as the hub in your area please visit MIHI’s website.
Collaborative partners
CMU’s Rural Health Equity Institute leads a collaborative effort that brings together various community organizations, including health alliances, workforce development agencies, educational groups, and civic consultants from Region 5. Together we will address digital inclusion challenges through tailored, community-driven solutions.
Get involved
The Region 5 MITTEN Collaborative is dedicated to inclusive outreach and welcomes additional community partners to join us in advancing digital inclusion. Collaborations with local schools, libraries, health centers and other organizations are vital to reaching all residents and improving online access to education, employment and health care. We will host in-person community kickoff events to increase awareness and encourage participation in this grant.
A calendar of upcoming events will soon be available on this page for those seeking resources, training, or ways to get involved.
