Robotic Surgery Simulator
Robotic
surgery is becoming an important mainstay in minimally invasive
surgery. In robotic surgery, operating “arms” are placed in the patient
through small ports, and the surgeon then sits at a separate control
panel to perform the actual surgery. This is a uniquely different
surgical technique that requires substantial training outside of the
traditional surgical approaches. Our lab now has a da Vinci robotic
trainer that allows learners to develop these highly important, highly
technical skills.
