Approved Autism Evaluation Center

Our Approved Autism Evaluation Center (AAEC) provides interdisciplinary evaluations for children ages 2 through 18 who are suspected of having autism spectrum disorder. The evaluation team consists of a psychologist, a speech-language pathologist, and a pediatrician. Because we are a training clinic, we also have graduate student clinicians assisting within our clinic.

Typically, we hold 2-hour caregiver interview appointments on Thursdays. On Fridays, clients undergo about 2 hours of psychology testing and 2 hours of speech and language testing. On Tuesdays, clients meet with our pediatrician for a 30-minute medical evaluation and meet with the rest of our team for about 1 hour to discuss diagnoses and recommendations.

These appointments can typically be completed online via telehealth besides our Friday testing appointments. Our clinic is located within the  Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education in the Health Professions Building, which is on East Campus Drive between Bellows and Preston in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Our AAEC partners with several insurance companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield. Please contact us to see if we are in-network with your insurance provider. Our billing specialist works with families and their insurance providers to provide estimates of the cost of our evaluations as clients reach the top of our waiting list.

We are not accepting patients at this time. Contact the Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education for more information.
