Application checklist for speech-language pathology

The deadline for application to the program is January 15, 2023.  Any application that is incomplete or received after that date will not be considered.  The Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) launch date for the 2022-2023 application cycle is July 15, 2022.

CSDCAS application

All applicants must apply using CSDCAS, an online application service.  Do not apply to CMU's Office of Graduate Studies. The CSDCAS student portal will launch on July 15, 2022 for the 2022-2023 application cycle.  If you start the process prior to the launch date, your information will be deleted.  Please reference the CSDCAS Program Directory to access each school's requirements.  It will help ensure your application is complete and all application, admissions, and program requirements have been met.  It will also assist in having your application processed in a timely manner.

Complete all portions of the CSDCAS application, including the experiences, achievements, and conferences attended sections.  Uploading a separate resume or curriculum vitae does not eliminate the need to complete these portions of the CSDCAS application.

Application deadline

The application deadline for our summer II Speech-Language Pathology program is January 15, 2023.  The CSDCAS suggests submitting your application 6-8 weeks before the deadline to ensure verification in a timely manner. 

Academic updates are required if you took any of the prerequisites after you initially submitted your transcripts to CSDCAS.  However, remember that updates must be complete and verified on or before January 15th.  CSDCAS estimates that academic updates take 10 days to process following receipt of your transcripts.

If your application has not been verified by January 9th, you should contact CSDCAS (617-612-2030 or csdcasinfo@csdcas.org) to determine what is holding up the verification of your application.  If CSDCAS has not verified your application by January 12th, you should email our admissions committee to update us on your situation.

Supplemental fee

You must submit the $50 supplemental fee no later than January 15, 2023 for your application to be considered eligible for review.  Log onto our payment portal to pay your fee.

Graduate record exam

The graduate record exam (GRE) is waived this year.

Letters of recommendation

Three letters of recommendation are required.

For international students only

International students must complete the following requirements.  Contact our CHP Graduate Admissions Office with any questions or concerns via email:  chpgradadm@cmich.edu or phone: 989-774-1730.

  • Course-by-course evaluation by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE), World Education Services (WES), Josef Silney and Associates, Inc., or Spantran
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores
  • I-20 requirements

Course-by-course evaluation

Coursework taken at international institutions (from non-English speaking countries) must be evaluated by ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.), WES (World Education Services), Josef Silney and Associates, Inc., or Spantran. Official transcripts and an official course-by-course evaluation must be sent from the evaluation service directly to CSDCAS and to The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, CHP Admissions Office, HPB 1250G, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48859. Canadian students are exempt from this requirement.

TOEFL scores

Prospective students who are not citizens of a TOEFL-exempt country must submit a satisfactory test score on the TOEFL or IELTS. Score requirements: 79 or 6.5 on the TOEFL/IELTS for regular admission, 61-78 or 5.5-6.0 for conditional admission. Applicants who are offered/accepted into the Audiology Program, must submit to CMU's Office of Graduate Studies an I-20 Affidavit/Statement of Support form, along with evidence of financial support. Contact the Office of Graduate Studies for more information.
