Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residents

Our podiatry residents take an active role in the interview process and selection of the incoming residency class. They advocate for patients and access to quality care.  The residents experience a multicultural environment and diverse backgrounds while supporting each other's wellness.

Ryan Woldahl, DPM

Medical School: Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine, Midwestern University
Professional Career Interests: My goal is to return back to Arizona and open up a private practice with my wife and possibly teach part-time.
Why did you choose CMU: I felt like I had an immediate connection and rapport with the residents and attendings and it immediately felt like home. I also found that my learning style was aligned with this program. I believe it provided the best opportunity for me to learn and reach my career goals.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Playing guitar, listening to music, watching Boston sports, reading books, watching movies, playing video games and board games
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: I love going to the cider mills in the fall and enjoy kayaking in the rivers. I am curious to learn more about hunting, golfing, and other various boating activities. I also really love finding that one hidden gem of a restaurant or coffee shop!

Professional Career Interests: Still exploring my options.
Why did you choose CMU: I picked CMU because of the family atmosphere. Everyone was very welcoming and you could tell it was a close-knit family.  You work closely with each attending and they really get to know you and this aligns with how I learn best.  
Personal Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy reading a good book with a cup of coffee in hand and cuddling my dog, Hank, and my cat, Theodore.  I also enjoy doing anything outdoors with my husband, whether it be hiking, foraging for mushrooms, or four-wheeling.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: My husband and I love trying new breweries and wineries from all around Michigan.

Nhan Tran, DPM

Professional Career Interests: Trauma and Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery
Why did you choose CMU: I chose CMU for the variety of Foot and Ankle pathology and techniques that I will get to learn throughout my 3 years here. Most importantly, I chose this program for all of the attendings that I will get to work with. They are all great surgeons and I am lucky to be here to learn from the best.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Hiking, Camping, Kayaking, Stand-up comedy
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Traveling to Canada
