Our new home
Opening in fall 2028, the new MyMichigan Health CMU Medical Education Building will be a premier academic facility designed to foster collaborative learning. The building's design reflects its surroundings, including echoes of the mid-century modern aesthetic of the MyMichigan Health Medical Center next door, and pays homage to Saginaw's rich history in the lumber industry. The facility design emphasizes wellness, belonging, and transparency, with open, interactive spaces and lots of natural light.
The four-story building with a fifth-floor mechanical penthouse will include problem-based learning classrooms, anatomy teaching spaces, student commons and student lounges, a Standardized Patient exam suite, high-fidelity simulation rooms, flexible-use spaces, and faculty and administrative offices.
The building's location places students, faculty and staff in close proximity to health care and community partners, strengthening and expanding opportunities for clinical training, experiential learning and community engagement. The facility will be programmatically scaled to support enrollment growth up to 130 medical students per cohort, pending clinical capacity.
Groundbreaking on the new facility is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and the college expects to welcome students, faculty and staff into their new home in time for the start of the fall 2028 semester.
