Application Process

​The Master of Science in Athletic Training program includes both didactic coursework and clinical experiences. Students in the BSAT program will complete the admissions process in ATR 340 (Athletic Training Field Experience). A maximum of 32 students are admitted annually into the MSAT program. All students must meet the admission requirements and technical standards to be eligible for selection into the MSAT program.

Deadlines

  • Applications are due by October 15th.
  • Applicants will be notified by November 1st for an interview.
  • All applicants will be notified regarding acceptance by January 15th.

Application Process

To be considered for admission into the MSAT program, applicants must complete the following:

  • Athletic training program application.
  • Graduate school application.
  • 60 hours of clinical observation with an athletic trainer in ATR 340.
  • Written professional recommendation (clinical experience evaluation).
  • Prerequisite courses with a GPA of 3.0 or higher:
    • FNS 370 - Nutrition
    • HSC 214 - Human Anatomy
    • HSC 215 - Human Physiology
    • HSC 216 - Biomechanics and Kinesiology
    • HSC 317 - Community Health
    • PSY 100 - Introduction to Psychology
  • Prerequisite courses* with a GPA of 2.0 or higher:
    • BIO 101 - General Biology
    • CHM 120 - Survey of Chemistry and CHM 127 - Introductory Chemistry Lab OR CHM 131 - Chemistry
    • HSC 308 - Physiology of Sport and Exercise
    • PHY 100 - Conceptual Physics OR PHY 130QR - College Physics I
    • PSY 220 - Developmental Psychology
    • STA 282QR - Introduction to Statistics
      • * When completing the application, students can have no more than two outstanding prerequisite courses.
  • Admission interview with the athletic training program faculty.
  • Completion of all BSAT degree requirements and athletic training major core requirements prior to beginning the MSAT.
