M.S. in Fashion Curriculum

Credit Hour Requirement

A total of 30 credit hours of graduate-level coursework is required. The FMD 604 core course constitutes three of these credits. The remaining 27 credits are fulfilled with concentration-specific courses. Of those, a maximum of 6 credits will be applied to Advanced Internship, Creative Scholarship or Thesis work.

Delivery Format

The program is an on campus program, offered primarily through face-to-face courses. A few courses in the curriculum are also available in an online/hybrid format.

Concentrations

Our M.S. in Fashion Merchandising and Design program features a forward-thinking, flexible curriculum designed to prepare you for the future of the fashion and design industries, and offers three specialized concentrations:

  • Human-Centered Design
  • Fashion Technology
  • Fashion Marketing 

Our program provides greater flexibility and enhanced pathways for students to prepare for specialized careers in fashion, retail, design, and academia.

Apparel Presentation Technology – Explores Software applications specific to apparel presentation in retail and virtual environments.

Electronic Textiles – Offers fundamentals of developing smart textiles by integrating textiles and electronics. 

Fashion Retail Technology – Offers in-depth study of technologies and innovations in fashion retailing.

Human-centered design – Explores the application of human-centered design methods in conceptualizing problems, generating ideas, and re-evaluating objects, environments, and systems to enhance people’s lives. 

Luxury Fashion Brand Management – Provides an in-depth understanding of the international luxury fashion industry and the unique aspects involved in managing luxury fashion brands.
