Praxis Administrator Evaluation

As a state and national leader in school administration preparation, Central Michigan University has adopted the ETS® Praxis administrator evaluation to assist in ensuring the principal and superintendent candidates have mastery of the professional standards and can demonstrate requisite leadership skills in the field.  The Praxis SLLA (building level leadership) and SLA (Central Office Leadership) exams are required in 37 states and is used as the national standard for administrator competency.  Principal and Superintendent candidates who graduate from CMU will be fully prepared for the challenging and rewarding work of leading schools and districts, and hold the necessary qualifications for these high-level leadership positions.

CMU's Department of Educational Leadership, in exceeding state standards, also looks to this assessment as a key element to our programs.  Program content and field-work is based on the ELCC Standards (2011) and the Praxis is a key tool used to gauge the program's effectiveness in preparing candidates for real-world challenges.  Feedback from the Praxis is used in program review and evaluation, as well as continuous program improvement.  Candidates can be confident that CMU's preparation program is of the highest quality and adequately prepares them for the work of transforming their schools and districts.
