Neuroscience Student Organizations

Joining a professional student organization is a great way to grow your network and add to your résumé. Check out the Central Neuroscience Society and Nu Rho Psi National Honors Society in Neuroscience groups below.

Central Neuroscience Society

The Central Neuroscience Society is a CMU Registered Student Organization. The club was established by Neuroscience students in order to increase student awareness of current research and to facilitate interdepartmental participation in the field of neuroscience. Central Neuroscience Society hopes to promote research in the area of neuroscience at both the university and community level. This organization provides an interdisciplinary approach so that all of its members from diverse backgrounds can exchange ideas.

Nu Rho Psi, National Honor Society in Neuroscience

Nu Rho Psi is an academic organization founded in 2006 by the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience. The activities of the society are governed by several principles including the following: Encourage professional interest and excellence in scholarship, particularly in neuroscience; Award recognition to students who have achieved such excellence in scholarship; Advance the discipline of neuroscience; encourage intellectual and social interaction between students, faculty, and professionals in neuroscience and related fields; Promote career development in neuroscience and related fields; Increase public awareness of neuroscience and its benefits for the individual and society; and Encourage service to the community.
