What is PING?
Physicists Inspiring the Next Generation (PING) is a two-week summer program for pre-college/high school students. PING was launched in 2014 as a collaboration between the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in partnership with Associated Universities, Inc. PING has been running at Michigan State University and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams since summer 2019 and will begin a pilot satellite program at Central Michigan University in Summer 2024.
What will we do?
PING comprises a two-week experience in nuclear physics at Central Michigan University and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University.
During this time you will work with faculty and student mentors at CMU on a nuclear physics experiment, visit FRIB, tour campus, learn about college life and programs at CMU, meet other PING students, and present your research results to your peers.
