The School of Engineering and Technology Scholarship supports incoming and transfer students pursuing a degree in engineering or engineering technology. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship helps students continue their education and prepare for careers in innovation, technology, and engineering fields.
Established in 1989 by William Myron and Hazel Georgia of Harrison, Michigan, the Myron and Hazel Georgia Scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Product Design Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering Technology. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, with preference given to non-traditional students.
Scholarship awards have historically ranged from $1,000 to $1,500 for up to six recipients, and the scholarship is renewable for eligible students.
Established in 1995 by Frank Irgang, CMU ’50, and Virginia Irgang, this scholarship supports Michigan residents who are junior or senior students majoring in a program within the School of Engineering and Technology. Transfer students are also eligible to apply.
Applicants must demonstrate service and involvement within the School of Engineering and Technology as well as Central Michigan University. Two equal scholarships are awarded each year—one to a junior and one to a senior. Past awards have been approximately $1,100 each. While no minimum GPA is required, a competitive GPA for school scholarships is typically around 3.0. This scholarship is not renewable.
Established through the estate of John B. Slater, former professor emeritus in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology, this scholarship supports junior and senior students enrolled in a program within the School of Engineering and Technology.
Applicants must submit two recommendations from department faculty members as part of the application. One scholarship of up to $1,500 is awarded annually and is renewable for eligible students.
Established in 1985 by Jo Stephenson and David Schock in honor of Jo’s parents, Betty and Jack Stephenson, this scholarship supports students pursuing a degree within the School of Engineering and Technology.
Full-time or part-time students enrolled in a program offered by the School of Engineering and Technology with a minimum 3.0 GPA may apply. One scholarship of up to $1,000 is awarded annually, and the scholarship is renewable for eligible students.
Established in 2009 by American Mitsuba Corporation and its affiliate CME, LLC, this scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering within the School of Engineering and Technology.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to qualified CME/American Mitsuba associates, related company employees, and their immediate family members. Applicants should include the name of the associate and their relationship, if applicable, with their application. This scholarship is renewable for eligible students.
The Karolak Engineering Annual Award supports junior and senior students pursuing an engineering major within the School of Engineering and Technology. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in their engineering coursework and demonstrate financial need.
As part of the application, students must submit an essay describing how they support and advocate for underrepresented groups in the engineering discipline. This award recognizes students who demonstrate both academic commitment and a dedication to creating a more inclusive engineering community.
Established in 2005 by The Christman Company, this scholarship supports students pursuing a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering within the School of Engineering and Technology.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to incoming freshmen who have completed at least three years of high school math and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is renewable for eligible students.
The John Steinbis/Martin Steinbis E&T Scholarship for Student Success supports engineering students in the School of Engineering and Technology who demonstrate both academic achievement and financial need.
Students with sophomore standing or higher who are enrolled in an engineering program and have a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply. This scholarship is designed to help students continue progressing toward their degree and future careers in engineering.
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship recognizes outstanding undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional promise in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. Designed to attract talented students to careers in these fields, the scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit to sophomores and juniors with excellent academic records, research experience, and active involvement in professional activities.
Eligible students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, enrolled full-time, and in the upper fourth of their class with at least a B average. Strong candidates are committed to pursuing a Ph.D. and have hands-on research experience with faculty mentors.
The scholarship provides up to $7,500 per academic year for tuition, fees, books, and living expenses. Junior recipients may receive up to two years of support, while seniors may receive up to one year. Interested students must submit a Pre-Application Form to CMU Goldwater Scholarship representatives through the CMU Honors Program, after which a faculty committee will nominate up to four students to complete the full application.
