Interdisciplinary Science Education Council

The Interdisciplinary Science Education Council (ISEC) at CMU exists to facilitate quality teacher education programs in Integrated and Earth Science, preparing science teachers to successfully educate K-12 students for the 21st century.

To this end, the Interdisciplinary Science Education Council will design and oversee programs that will:

  • Provide the content knowledge in life, physical, and earth and space sciences necessary to become effective K-12 science teachers.
  • Provide training and practice in designing and implementing effective, engaging, and inquiry-based science lessons.
  • Prepare student to provide a safe laboratory environment in the classroom, including care and use of animals and plants and appropriate use and storage of chemicals.​
