ABET Accreditation

What is ABET accreditation?

A student in a maroon and gold t-shirt and a baseball hat working on the electronics from inside a computer.ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation is a globally recognized standard of quality for programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. It signifies that an academic program meets the rigorous standards necessary to prepare students for careers in these fields. ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that evaluates programs against criteria focused on curriculum quality, faculty expertise, facilities, and continuous improvement.

Why is ABET accreditation important?

ABET accreditation ensures that our programs meet industry standards and delivers an education that is both relevant and forward-thinking. It provides a benchmark for educational excellence, demonstrating that our programs have been thoroughly reviewed and meet the needs of employers, educators, and students alike.

How does ABET accreditation benefit you?

  1. Career Opportunities: Graduating from an ABET-accredited program enhances employability, as many employers prefer or require candidates with this credential. It assures them that graduates possess the skills and knowledge needed for professional roles.

  2. Professional Licensure: Many engineering licensure boards, such as those for Professional Engineers (PE), require a degree from an ABET-accredited program as a qualification for licensure.

  3. Global Recognition: ABET accreditation is internationally recognized, providing graduates with credentials respected across borders and expanding global career opportunities.

  4. Confidence in Education: Students can trust that their program offers a high-quality education, with a curriculum designed to meet the demands of today\u2019s technology-driven world.

  5. Access to Graduate Programs: Some graduate schools prefer applicants from ABET-accredited undergraduate programs, ensuring a strong foundation for advanced studies.
