The CMU Speaker Series presents accomplished author and climate researcher Britt Wray for a pair of Earth Day events.

  • At 2 p.m. in Plachta Auditorium, Dr. Wray will host a "Climate Conversation" moderated by CMU Biology alumna Laura Schmidt and focusing on activism and getting involved.
  • The main event will take place at 8 p.m. in Plachta Auditorium (Warriner Hall). Dr. Wray will give a keynote address followed by a panel discussion, Q & A, and meet-and-greet.
  • The panel discussion will be moderated by Provost Mathews and panelists will include Dr. Matt Liesch (Geography), Teresa Homsi (WCMU public radio), Don Smith (Citizens Climate Lobby), and a Central Sustainability student leader.

These events are FREE and open to the campus community and public.

Britt Wray is an award-winning science communicator who studies mental health impacts of climate change. She is the director of a research and action initiative focused on climate leadership, resilience, and emotional wellbeing at Stanford's School of Medicine. In her latest book, Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in an Age of Climate Anxiety, Dr. Wray seamlessly merges scientific knowledge with emotional insight on the troubled state of our planet. Brit Wray is deeply compassionate, scientifically rigorous, and, above all, hopeful.
