The unthinkable — fire, severe weather, violence, bomb threat — can strike at any time. It takes all of us working together to prepare for and take action during an emergency situation. You are your own best first responder. This site will help you PREPARE for and TAKE ACTION during an emergency.

About Emergency Management

Central Michigan University is committed to providing the campus community with information and resources to prepare and plan for emergency situations.

CMU Emergency Management — led by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety and the CMU Police Department — implements programs and projects in emergency and disaster planning, training, mitigation, response and recovery. In collaboration with several university departments, CMU uses national, state and industry standards, along with institutional experience, to prepare for, respond to and recover from campus emergencies.

Our goal: save lives, protect property, promote continuity of operations and reduce the overall effects of large-scale emergencies.

We provide safety training for the campus community, including classroom and online training, individual and group training, orientations, consultative sessions, seminars, and orientation materials as they relate to major campus emergency incidents.
