Details: | Isaac Concha Carbajal presents "Between Art and Science: Life Experiences in Art, Art Restoration and Conservation." Isaac Concha Carbajal is an artist from Peru specializing in the restoration and conservation of paintings (canvas and murals), as well as sculptures from the 17th-18th centuries. Since most Peruvian art from these centuries are religious representations venerated in Catholic churches, their perceived value is much higher than their monetary value. Hence, the restorers are under pressure while doing the restorations to avoid alterations, which could be perceived as damage to these precious works of art. Therefore, restorers collaborate with specialists ranging from art to chemistry. For example, the chemical analysis of materials and pigments used are crucial for a faithful restoration. In 1983, Isaac received training in restoration of paintings and sculptures from the National Institute of Culture in Peru, and in 1994 he received his title as a Professional Artist from the University of Fine Arts in Cuzco where he also taught between 1991 and 1999. Isaac is an established painter. As a native speaker of the Inca language, Isaac incorporates his ancestral indigenous motifs and beliefs in his paintings. |
