Details: | Sleeping in the Mine: Artist TalkOctober 8th, 2025 - 6:30 pmJoin us in the Charles V. Park Library Opperman Auditorium for Mira Burack's Artist Talk about her exhibition, Sleeping in the Mine. Sleeping in the Mine shares essences of tender familial hearts, fool's gold, sacred plants, ancient memories and wounds in the land. It explores the defunct Cunningham gold mine adjacent to where the artist lives in New Mexico, and uses the site of the bed to bring intimacy to the challenging mining history, the environmental concerns and its long-term impact on communities. Artist Reception and gallery are free and open to the public when the main library is open. Cover image: Fool's Gold Bouquet II, 2023, Photography collage (photographs of bedding), 36" x 24” |
