CMU Violin & Viola Day 2026

The School of Music at Central Michigan University is proud to announce the 2026 CMU Violin & Viola Day, designed for talented middle & high school upper strings students! Registration deadline is Sunday, January 25th, at 11:59 pm.

This year, the School of Music is thrilled to launch a Violin Competition during Violin & Viola Day with a $500 first prize. All high school violin students with a 5-minute solo from Suzuki Book 4 or above are eligible to compete.

General Schedule:
  • 9:30 AM: Registration
  • 10:00 AM: Masterclass with guest artists, violin competition, and rehearsals
  • 12:30 PM: Lunch
  • 1:30 PM: Masterclass with CMU Faculty and rehearsals
  • 4:00 PM: Ensemble performances
  • 4:30 PM: Final Concert

Payment:

The cost for this event is $10 per participating student. Registration fee must be paid during check-in. Lunch is not included in the registration; however, for an additional $5, participants can enjoy pizza. (Registration will ask for your interest)
