About the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement

The Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement is dedicated to fostering both professional and personal growth through transformative educational experiences that prioritize leadership, relationship-building, and scholarship. Our goal is to support a thriving campus community where individuals evolve as lifelong learners. We seek to cultivate an environment that encourages open, respectful dialogue across ideological and socioeconomic differences—anchored in CMU’s values of civility, ethical leadership, and the consistent, impartial application of policies, procedures, and practices.

We envision a center that will:

  • Support the professional development needs of CMU faculty, staff and graduate students.
  • Respond to regional needs by developing educational materials that encompass multiple communities, contexts, and lived experiences.
  • Strengthen professional development within the region by aligning learning opportunities with academic programs, workforce demands, and cross-sector partnerships with regional colleges, public agencies, and industry stakeholders.

Externally, the Center for Collaborative Learning and Engagement supports Central Michigan University’s commitment to lifelong learning by facilitating educational sessions that promote healthy leadership development, constructive dialogue, and the cultivation of psychologically safe environments across professional workplaces and community settings.
