Get ready for the new cmich.edu

We’re Fired Up! Our new CMU website is going live on Jan. 7. I wanted to let you know what to expect with the new site and what it means for you.

First, the website is designed to be more user-friendly and to make finding the information you’re looking for even easier. It will also serve as a window into CMU, showcasing our active, hands-on approach to learning in each of our 300 academic programs, the support you’ll get from our collaborative and uplifting community, and the value of a CMU degree and the real-world achievements of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.

You’ll also notice it looks quite a bit different. It will include new designs and layouts with more high-impact photos and videos to create a more visual and engaging look at life here at CMU.

So, what does it all mean for you? Here are a few of the key takeaways.

Exploring programs

If you’re still considering different majors, our program finder tool will be a great place for you to explore our programs and how they can get you into the career you want. You’ll find the program finder on the new homepage at cmich.edu.

Confirming your enrollment

If you have not paid or deferred your $175 enrollment reservation deposit to secure your spot, you should log in to our new student portal at fireup.cmich.edu/status. You’ll use the same username and password you created when you applied through our site. If you applied with the Common App, use the email you created there to sign in.

First, you’ll be asked to accept your offer of admission. Once you accept, you’ll have access to submitting or deferring your enrollment reservation deposit. If you choose to defer, the $175 will be added to your fall tuition bill.

Setting up your CMU account

You’ll also want to set up your CMU account and email. You’ll use your “New CMU Account PIN” found at the bottom of your congratulations letter to get started at myaccount.cmich.edu/newaccount. You’ll need your new cmich.edu email for your orientation and housing registrations, receiving your financial aid information, and other important messages.

Orientation registration

Once you have paid or deferred your enrollment deposit, you’ll register for orientation beginning Jan. 10. You’ll use the same portal at fireup.cmich.edu/status to choose a date to attend orientation. Spots are first come, first served, so it’s best to do this as soon as possible.

Housing registration

Housing registration will also open Jan. 10. After you make or defer your deposit, you’ll receive an email from Residence Life guiding you through the process. There will also be a link to the housing application within your new student portal.

As the site rolls out and we all start this exciting journey with a fresh look, improved navigation and a personalized student portal, we look forward to meeting you at orientation.
