How to use PrintQ
PrintQ is a resource for students and faculty that is used throughout Central Michigan University’s campus. This link is directed to our library site and will show you everything on printing. Using PrintQ will be similar in all buildings throughout campus. To get started with any printing, you should have the file you want saved as a PDF file for the best results.
On a device such as your phone, laptop, or library desktop, type into the search bar printq.cmich.edu. This will bring you to a login screen or directly into the site itself. If you are prompted to provide a login and password, use your Cmich Global ID and password.
The first step is to submit a job; this function is in the left corner in a green box. The next step is to select what printing style you need. The options include 1 sided black and white, 1-sided color, 11x17 color, 2 -sided black and white, and 2-sided color. After selecting the style, indicate placing the number of copies needed in the appropriate box. The last step is to add the file to the site. This can be done by the drag-and-drop method if the file is easily accessible, or you can tap the green upload from the computer button and go into your files.
After the website screen reads, “held in queue,” find the closest printing station. Black and white printers are located on all floors of the library, while color printers can be found on the 1st floor in 1 Quiet as well as 1 North. On the 2nd floor, they are located near the Adobe Lounge. Each printer has a desktop computer nearby used for releasing printing jobs. Log in with the credentials that you used to log in to PrintQ. This should pull up a screen with the files you have uploaded. If everything is correct, select Print on the right side of the screen or print all jobs with a button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Every student receives PrintQ money allocations. For details on this use the library site linked above. If you need to add PrintQ funds, you can do so through CMU’s website. Once logged into Centrallink, scroll down to My Profile then select Printing. This will show your printing history. To add more funds, scroll down and locate a maroon box that says Purchase more quota. Select the dollar amount you want (ranging from $2.00 to $10.00) and click Purchase. This will be billed to your student account.
If assistance is needed with any of these steps, please go to the 2nd floor Library Services Desk. Our student employees are trained to aid you with all your printing needs.
