Max Smolin
StudentBiography
Max Smolin came to CMU eager for a fresh start.
Through connections with his marketing professors, advisor, fraternity brothers and student organizations, he became more involved on campus and was able to build his personal and professional experiences.
"I've met a ton of amazing people and been given so many opportunities," Max said. "Central really wants its students to succeed."
While one of Max's biggest challenges was adjusting to college life, Central helped set him up for success.
Max says the smaller class sizes have made a big difference for him. He appreciates the one-on-one focus, success coaches and being able to see his advisor during the semester.
"The way advisors set you up for success and personally connect with everyone makes a difference," he said. "They're not seeing 500 kids a day; the connection is more personal."
As he settled in, Max joined different student organization including Hillel at CMU and later joined that e-board. Hillel at CMU is a branch of the largest Jewish campus organization in the world. Its members can meet and connect with other Jewish students at CMU and across the state, and attend programming events related to the interests of Jewish students.
Through participating in the student organizations, Max has made lifelong connections and gained experience he can add to his portfolio.
"Central's built me up professionally and helped me continue in the right direction."
