The Library was awarded a Go Grant!
The CMU Libraries is happy to report it received one of the Go Grants given out by the President’s Office in the Spring of 2025. The purpose of these grants is to fund innovative initiatives, which will help the university achieve its strategic priorities and move forward. Almost 125 grant proposals were submitted from across campus, and only 28 grants were awarded. The library is excited that its proposal has been funded and looks forward to implementing it.
We will use this new funding (a total of $28,000) to provide library users with dynamic technologies which will help them succeed in the classroom and become digitally literate students, teachers, and graduates. Plans are underway to purchase specialized laptops and tablets, as well as high-level audio and video tools such as cameras, microphones, and lighting equipment. This equipment is available for use by all CMU students, faculty, and staff.
Having access to these new technologies will help students by increasing their exposure to and experience with professional tools, improving their overall learning experience, and reducing the financial burden of college.
The library plans to purchase this new equipment during the summer of 2025, making it available to library users for the fall semester. Most of the equipment will be available for checkout at the Library Services Desk on the 2nd floor, though some pieces (such as our new Wacom tablets) will be available for use only in the library.
Be sure to stop by this fall and familiarize yourself with our exciting new technology!
