Welcome, Sara White!

The CMU Libraries is pleased to introduce Sara White, our new manager of Acquisitions and Resource Management (ARM). As the manager of ARM, Sara will lead the library’s activities related to its electronic and print collections, including usage analysis, collection maintenance, and the purchase, processing, and cataloging of new materials. Sara joined the Libraries on August 18, 2025. 

Before arriving at CMU, Sara was the Senior Director of Library Services at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), in New York City. There she oversaw library services and staff at AMDA’s New York City and Los Angeles campuses. Prior to this, she served in management roles at the New York City campus library. Before joining AMDA, she worked as an Adult Services Librarian at the New Haven (CT) Public Library. 

The move to Michigan is a homecoming for Sara and her family. She was raised in Toledo, Ohio, and earned bachelor’s and master's degrees in music performance from Michigan State University and a master's degree in library and information science from Wayne State University. Her husband was born and raised in Owosso, Michigan. In her spare time, Sara loves playing the bassoon, diving into all kinds of music, getting lost in a good book, and creating through paper crafting. She’s thrilled to be back in the Mitten and can’t wait to explore it with her family.
