Access to library resources and study areas on inclement weather days

If CMU closes campus or delays opening due to inclement weather, some library resources and study spaces will still be available. We will post an alert on our website and social media channels about library access.

• Many of our collections are available online anywhere, anytime, through Smart Search.  
• You can get help from a librarian through Ask a Librarian.
• Some of the Park Library’s first-floor study spaces will be open.

When campus has a delayed opening

• Currently enrolled students may use their CMU ID card to access the 1 North after-hours study room and the 1st floor Quiet Study space.
  • The 1 North after-hours study room will continue its normal fall/spring semester schedule: open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except on holidays and break days).
  • The extended-hours door to the 1st floor Quiet Study Area will open at 7:30 a.m. This door is located at the west end of the library café.
• The rest of the Park Library will open at the time of the delayed opening, which is typically 11:00 a.m. The building will close at its normally scheduled time.

When campus is closed for a whole day

• Currently enrolled students may use their CMU ID card to access the 1 North after-hours study room and the 1st floor Quiet Study space.
  • The 1 North after-hours study room will continue its normal fall/spring semester schedule: open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except on holidays and break days).
  • The extended-hours door to the 1st floor Quiet Study space will open at 7:30 a.m. and will remain open the whole day. This door is located at the west end of the Library Café.
• The rest of the Park Library will be closed.

When campus closes early

• Currently enrolled students may use their CMU ID card to access the 1 North after-hours study room and the 1st floor Quiet Study space.
  • The 1 North after-hours study room will continue its normal fall/spring semester schedule: open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except on holidays and break days).
  • The extended-hours door to the 1st floor Quiet Study space will remain open. This door is located at the west end of the Library Café.
• The rest of the Park Library will close at the time campus closes.
