Ebooks (and Audiobooks) Made Easy

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Wow, I sure wish this was an eBook,” or “An audiobook would be so much easier for me to get through”? Well, you’re in luck, because at the CMU Libraries, we have those options!
Most people who use library services are likely familiar with our website and search options, but it can be really overwhelming sometimes. If you’re looking for a specific title or a subject and want only online options, you can choose the Available Online filter on the left side of the search results.
Libby is another eBook resource. You might be familiar with that name if you use a public library in your area. CMU has its own catalogue that can be reached at www.libbyapp.com. From there, search for “Central Michigan University” and log in with your Global ID. Libby has a few hundred titles available right now, and you can always request that CMU purchase a title if you think we should have it. You can filter by eBook/audiobook, available now/put on hold, and many more options.
One of my favorite things about this website is there’s an app for mobile devices and computers. The Libby app syncs between computer and mobile devices, so you never have to miss out or fast-forward to the page from where you left off. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can visit your local public library, and once you get a library card there, you can add even more library options to Libby.
For more information about Libby and other online resources, you can go to library.cmich.edu and look through the Library Tutorials or Ask a Librarian.
