This Is My City: Critical Engagements Kickoff Panel

Details:

CMU alumni on Detroit -- the city that made them, and where it goes next

Detroit has been explained to the rest of the country for decades--usually by people who don't live there. We're opening our 10th year of the Critical Engagements Series by handing the microphone to people who do. Central Michigan University alumni who come from, live in, or work in Detroit talk about the neighborhoods that raised them, the work they do now, and where they want their city to go. Then it's your turn: audience stories, questions, and discussions are encouraged.

What does a great American city actually look like? Who gets to tell its story? What does a small-city university owe the state it serves? The panels will be moderated by Rhonda Welsh, Executive Director of Detroit Outreach.

Critical Engagements is a collaborative project housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences that makes the academic mission of CMU concrete by highlighting how our students, faculty and community are tackling the world's most pressing and difficult questions.
