Details:
Frequencies of Deep Time ARTIST TALK & RECEPTION
October 22, 6:30 pm

Opperman Auditorium, Park Library

with visiting artist ERIC SOUTHER, Associate Professor of Kinetic Imaging, Gwen Frostic School of Art, Western Michigan University.

Artist Eric Souther will be discussing his processes and practices and his Baber Room Gallery exhibition, Frequencies of Deep Time.

Across this series, custom software translates sound into oscillating forms that animate geological landscapes like Pictured Rocks, Watkins Glen, & Lake George, revealing that permanence is flux and that rock, life, humans, and now AI are entangled strata of one ongoing story. Just as the discovery of deep time stretched Earth's age from six thousand years to billions, these works use the geological timescale to cultivate long-term thinking.
