A group of students gathers around a table in a library meeting room to test a tabletop game, with one participant explaining the rules while others examine game pieces and materials.

Ready to try a new board game, discover a new favorite or challenge your friends to a little friendly competition?

Celebrate International Games Month with an afternoon of tabletop gaming at CMU's Park Library! Drop in anytime between 3 and 7 p.m. to explore board games from the CMU Libraries' collection, connect with fellow game enthusiasts and experience the fun of learning through play.

Want to try something new? Sign up for a guided session to learn Wingspan or Pandemic with an experienced player. Whether you're a longtime board game enthusiast or just curious about tabletop gaming, there's something to explore.

The event brings together CMU Libraries and the Center for Learning through Games and Simulations, a faculty-led academic center exploring how play can inspire learning, leadership and critical thinking. CLGS also oversees Central Michigan University Press, which publishes scholarly games designed to be as engaging as they are educational. These games undergo academic peer review and playtesting to ensure they don't just teach something, they're fun to play, too!
