International Payments

Central Michigan University has partnered with Flywire to facilitate electronic transfers of funds. Founded by a former international student, Flywire's mission is to save money for international students and their families that might otherwise be lost in bank fees and unfavorable foreign exchange rates.

As a security measure and in keeping with recommended banking practices, wire transfers in excess of the balance due on a student account should not be sent to Central Michigan University.  If overpayment does occur, CMU reserves the right to wire back the excess to the originating account or hold the excess for a future semester.  Funds intended for a student for personal expenses should be wired directly to the student's local bank account.

How to pay

  1. Log in to CentralLink with your CMU credentials.
  2. Click on Pay/View My Bill in the Quick Links for Students menu.
  3. Click on Make a Payment.
  4. Enter the amount in U.S. Dollars that you wish to pay and click Next.
  5. Under the International Payment method, select Flywire.
  6. Confirm your payment information and click Submit Payment to be redirected to the Flywire website to finalize the transaction.
  7. First-time access will require the creation of a Flywire account. From your account, you can monitor pending transfers and review historical transaction records.
  8. Flywire will convert your home currency to U.S. Dollars and transfer the funds to CMU, where the amount you entered in step three will be credited to your student account.
