Biography
Dr. Chanseok Jeong, at Central Michigan University (CMU), has research experience in wave propagation analyses, inverse problems, computational mechanics, and machine learning.
Dr. Jeong has been awarded a number of research grants, including an Automotive Research Center (ARC) grant, a Michigan Translational Research & Commercialization (MTRAC) grant, and two National Science Foundation (NSF) grants, as Principal Investigator. In total, he has secured more than $1.42 million in competitive research funding ($1.34 million at CMU), with an individual share of $1.22 million ($1.14 million at CMU). He has authored 31 peer-reviewed journal papers with several additional manuscripts currently under review.
He has supervised the research of multiple postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students at CMU (2020–present), the Catholic University of America (2013–2020), and the University of California, Los Angeles (2011–2013), following the completion of his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin in 2011.
He received the Provost Award for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity at CMU in 2023. Since 2020, he has been teaching courses in machine and mechanism design and computer-aided problem solving at CMU and previously taught ten different courses in finite element methods, solid mechanics, engineering mathematics, and numerical methods at CUA from 2013 to 2020. In May 2020, he received the Charles H. Kaman Award for Teaching Excellence at CUA. He also taught a computer programming course at UCLA.
