FACULTY

Biography

I am an associate professor within the Teacher and Special Education department at Central Michigan University and Director of the Graduate Programs in Educational Technology. I am an ISTE Certified Educator, and I currently teach undergraduate, masters, and doctoral classes, as well as working with undergraduate elementary education majors and STEM education students. I was a chemistry and physics teacher for 23 years at the high school level, as well as conducting professional development in educational technology for teachers and teaching online at Penn State.

My current research focuses on two overlapping strands: science curiosity and technology supported learning. The first strand explores the relationships between curiosity, STEM learning and participation in practices, and engagement through making in elementary and middle school youth. The second strand of my research focuses more broadly on student use of technology in in-school and out-of-school learning and making experiences to support and enhance science learning and participation in science practices.
