Ph.D.
Biography
Richard McCabe is a Professor of Physiology at CMU College of Medicine and Professor Emeritus (Pathophysiology) at East Carolina University. His current area of scholarship is improving learner conceptualization of physiology and pathophysiology. Earlier work was is in cardiovascular protective mechanisms of potassium; and transport mechanisms and regulation/homeostasis of potassium and other ions. Dr. McCabe serves as Course Director for Foundational Sciences of Medicine B and also teaches in Foundational Sciences of Medicine A and 3 systems. He is currently Chair of the Faculty Council and its Subcommittees and is a member of the Curriculum Committee, Year 1-2 Curriculum Committee, and Segment Review/Academic Standards ad hoc Committees, Fellow of CMU Academy of Medical Educators, Medical Student Advisor, Faculty Mentor, Reviewer for Advances in Physiology Education, Judge for the CMU College of Medicine/CMU Medical Education Partners Research Symposium and the Annual Medical Student Research Forum.
