Teaching English Learners
Minor

Program Overview

The Teaching English Learners (TEL) Minor and TEL Program lead to an initial or additional PK-12 teaching endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL). This high-demand endorsement qualifies you to serve multilingual students in learning the English language and academic content.

We offer two pathways for attaining an ESL endorsement:

  • The Teaching English Learners (TEL) Minor is for students currently working on a B.S. in education who are interested in an initial ESL endorsement.

Let your academic advisor (cmich.edu/MyAdvisor) know of your interest in adding the minor.

      • The Teaching English Learners (TEL) Program is for certified teachers who are interested in adding an ESL endorsement to their existing Michigan teaching license.

Contact our Certification Officer (CMUEdCert@cmich.edu) to get your transcript review started.
