Level up your digital literacy with the Adobe Creative Cloud
Have you heard of digital literacy? This skill includes the ability to find, communicate, and access information efficiently and confidently using digital technologies. Digital literacy can encompass many skills, including searching the internet, creating a website, communicating information via social media, or creating audio or video content.
In the 21st century, digital literacy is more important than ever to thrive in the professional world and interact with the information ecosystem. The current digital landscape requires individuals to use technology effectively to communicate skills to a future employer and demonstrate their expertise and abilities. The Adobe Creative Campus initiative at Central Michigan University allows students to gain the digital and media skills necessary to be successful in their future careers, regardless of their major.
CMU’s Adobe Creative Campus initiative provides free access to Adobe programs for all students, staff, and faculty on campus. Also referred to as the Adobe Creative Cloud, this suite of tools includes industry standard design and media programs like Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Audition. Along with creative design programs, Adobe also offers professional tools for a more efficient digital workplace, like Acrobat Pro or Express. Just one of the 40 Adobe programs included in the initiative can open a whole new world of digital skills to our campus community.
If you’re not a design or multimedia major, you may not see the value in taking the time to learn an Adobe program. Although many of the programs are designed for professionals in creative fields, there are also beginner-friendly tools that can be used for all sorts of common tasks. Adobe Express, for example, can be used to quickly design professional digital flyers, webpages, social media posts, business cards, resumes, infographics, and more.
Unsure where to get started? Visit the Adobe Digital Lounge, located on the 2nd floor of the Park Library, for resources and support for any digital or creative project.
