January 2025: Website updates
The Digital Strategy Team kicked off 2025 by installing a Sitefinity patch and optimizing the functions that keep it the website working behind the scenes, including:
- Changing the site name from "www.cmich.edu " to "Central Michigan University" in search engine results.
- Running far less JavaScript functions before page content shows on screen (removed head.js file and embedded lighter "helper" scripts in the page directly).
- Search page CSS (program finder, Google search, and general search) separated out into their own bundles and only loaded on search pages, reducing unused CSS in the rest of the site.
- Updating the site name and password in importers after the previous deployment.
