Dr. Rosca received her medical degree from the Gr. T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy and completed a residency in internal medicine in Iasi, Romania. She subsequently was a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow and then a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and Center of Inherited Disorders of Energetic Metabolism at Case Western Reserve University. She joined the CMU College of Medicine in 2014 as a founding faculty member teaching both physiology and pathophysiology to medical students and serving as co-director of the renal-endocrine course. In education, she has been a critical contributor in writing and reviewing cases across the curriculum and an appreciated small group facilitator. As a result of her educational activity, she was awarded the Founding Faculty Appreciation award in 2017 and the College of Medicine’s Spirit of Teaching Award in 2019. Dr. Rosca is a tenure-track appointee. Her research focuses on mitochondrial diseases, metabolic syndrome and its complications. Her laboratory was a recipient of grants from Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundations, United Mitochondrial Research Foundation and American Heart Association, and is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health. Her laboratory has been inclusive for many undergraduate and medical students. In research, she has demonstrated significant scholarly activity with multiple peer-reviewed publications.
