Ed has been the head of Saga Communications since its inception in 1986. From 1977 to 1986 he served as Executive Vice President then President of Josephson Communications. From 1974 to 1977 he served as Vice President and General Manager of WNIC-FM in Detroit until it was purchased by Josephson Communications.
As president of Saga, Ed oversees 91 radio stations, the Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota Radio networks and the Michigan and Minnesota Farm Radio Networks, five television stations and four low-power television stations in 26 markets.
Ed received his BA from Wayne State in 1973.
Ed received CMU’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2011, Broadcaster of the Year in 2011 and National Association of Broadcaster’s Radio Award in 2009.
He serves as Chair of the Radio Music License Committee, and Advisor to the Board of the American Autoimmune Related Disease Association and a member of their National Resource Development Committee. He is past president of the Associated Press Broadcast Advisory Council and past board member of the Broadcaster’s Foundation, National Association of Broadcasters, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, St. John Hospital in Detroit and past board member and chairman of the Arbitron Radio Advisory Council. He also served as Honorary Consul for the Republic of Iceland.
